Beloit Meals on Wheels is pleased to announce a $5,000 community impact grant award from Stateline Community Foundation to support our mission and commitment to feeding home bound seniors.
“We are truly thankful for the Stateline Community Foundation’s support which will provide 900 meals and improve the quality of life of our Beloit home bound seniors, says Ellen Wiegand, Executive Director.
For almost 50 years, Beloit Meals on Wheels has been providing nutritious meals, a friendly visit, and a safety check to help the elderly live healthier and more nourished lives in their own homes. Like many Meals on Wheels programs, our program started with a vision of volunteers who saw a need in the community and came together to do something about it. What makes our organization truly unique is that we are the only meal provider in the area that delivers meals 365 days a year and since 1999 we have served over 550,000 meals. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of the community and our almost 500 dedicated volunteers who donate their time, gas and vehicle so no Beloit senior goes hungry. The impact that we have, on the clients we serve, goes far beyond the wholesome meals we provide. The daily visit and safety check, that accompanies each delivery, is just as important as the meal – ensuring that seniors are well, safe and connected in the community.”
