Beloit, WI – November 9, 2015 – Beloit Meals On Wheels brought a special guest to Mrs. Rutledge 4th grade Townview Elementary class today, WWII Air Force veteran Bill Rodermel. Bill is certainly a treasure and not only served our country, but has served our community in numerous ways. He is a dedicated Beloit Meals On Wheels volunteer who has been delivering meals for 25 years. The 2nd grade class at Powers Elementary and Mrs. Rutledge’s 4th grade class at Townview Elementary hand-crafted 100 Veteran’s Day cards to hand out to Beloit Meals On Wheels clients this Veteran’s Day.
Beloit Meals on Wheels Executive Director Ellen Wiegand shared, “ Many of our clients are veterans or family of veterans and we are proud to show them our appreciation for their service and sacrifice.” Bill shared stories of his time in the Air Force with the students and they responded by personally thanking him for his sacrifice. We would like to specially thank school social worker Anita Martia and Mrs. Rutledge for inviting Bill into their classroom to share what it is like to serve your country and our community. ”
